This article was originally published in the journal of the European Medical Writers Association (EMWA): McIntosh A, Lee ZY, Fagan V, Hamilton S. Celebrating 10 years of the CORE Reference Project. MEW. 2026;35(1):71-77. doi:10.56012/lxmo4674.
Minor adaptations to contextualize the original article for readers of AMWA Journal, including this introduction, have been made in this version.
Two AMWA members, Dr Aaron Bernstein and Dr Art Gertel, were on the original Clarity and Openness in Reporting: E3 based (CORE) Reference development team, The Budapest Working Group (BWG). Both served from project inception in May 2014 to resource publication in May 2016. Dr Gertel continues to act as strategic advisor on an as-needed basis for the ongoing project. AMWA’s Brian Bass kindly liaised between the CORE team and AMWA to ensure that the open-access 2016 resources reached the widest possible audience in the American medical writing community.
